Job summary: The asphalt raker using a rake/lute is responsible for distributing asphalt material evenly to ensure a smooth, level surface and assist in all phases of paving operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Walk behind the paver, using the lute to straighten the joint and edge of pavement to correct imperfections in the asphalt mat, to improve appearance and rideability of the surface.
Monitor mat once asphalt emerges from the screed.
Identify and correct high and low area(s) of newly paved area.
Distribute and smooth asphalt in areas where paver cannot be used.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Previous paving experience is preferred.
Ability to do manual labor.
Ability to understand and follow oral instructions; communicate with supervisors.
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
